Through its award-winning **Science Programme**, The Ocean Race contributes to real-time ocean monitoring, biodiversity research, and science communication, supporting global understanding and protection of the ocean.
๐ฏ Your Mission
As Science Programme Intern, you will support the delivery and development of The Ocean Race Science Programme during the 2026 race cycle.
Working closely with the Science Programme Manager, you will contribute to scientific operations, data management, research, and science communication initiatives linked to ocean health, biodiversity, and sustainability.
๐ What Youโll Be Doing
Science Programme Support
- Support the management and development of The Ocean Race Science Programme
- Assist with scientific equipment coordination, documentation, maintenance, and technical support across participating teams
- Support onboard science systems and data collection processes
Data & Research
- Support the collection, quality control, analysis, and visualisation of oceanographic data
- Conduct desk-based research supporting the Science Programme and Racing for the Ocean initiatives
- Support monitoring, evaluation, and case study development to demonstrate programme impact
Nature Action Plan & Biodiversity
- Contribute to the development of the **Nature Action Plan** in collaboration with the Marine Mammal Advisory Group (MMAG)
- Support research, species and habitat assessments, and outreach planning with Host Cities and stakeholders
Training & Science Communication
- Support training sessions for teams on science systems and science communication
- Assist in the preparation of educational and communication materials
- Contribute to public-facing science communications, including newsletters, social media, and outreach content

Minimum requirements
๐งฉ What Weโre Looking For
- Academic background in oceanography, marine biology, environmental science, chemistry, or related fields
- Strong interest in ocean science, biodiversity, and sustainability
- Organised, reliable, and able to manage multiple priorities
- Strong communication skills and interest in science outreach
- Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in an international environment
- Interest in education, public engagement, and sustainability initiatives
โ Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelorโs or Masterโs degree programme
- Ability to formalise a practical training agreement (internship agreement) with a university or educational institution
- Fluent in English (written and spoken)
- Knowledge of French is a plus
- Experience with data analysis tools (Excel, Python, MATLAB, or similar) is an advantage
