π― Your Mission
As our Shop Coordinator & Museum Support, you will play an essential role managing daily store operations alongside supporting wider key areas across the Museum. Reporting to the Head of The Ocean Race Museum, you will take full ownership of our Museum Shopβfrom daily sales, cash balance, and software management to inventory control, stock audits, and special commercial campaigns like sales or Black Friday.
Alongside your primary focus on the store, you will act as a key support player for the wider museum. You won't be leading the museum operations, but rather stepping in to assist the team with visitors, guided tours, and events whenever extra hands are needed.
π What Youβll Be Doing
- Shop Management & Sales: Lead daily store opening and closing, customer sales, daily sales registration, and cash balance management using our store software.
- Stock & Inventory Control: Oversee inventory management, stock control, and generate detailed sales and stock reports.
- Financial Collaboration: Support the finance department with year-end inventories, cash management, and administrative tasks.
- Campaigns & Promotions: Prepare and execute special retail campaigns (e.g., sales periods, Black Friday) and assist in promoting the museum across digital and analog platforms to maximize sales and visitor numbers.
- Museum Support: Assist team members in welcoming visitors, ticket sales, guided tours, and supporting museum activities and events.
- Event & Operations Support: Provide hands-on assistance to The Ocean Race central event team when needed.
β° Schedule
- Wednesday & Thursday: 10:00 - 16:00
- Friday & Saturday: 10:00 - 18:00
- Sunday: 10:00 - 14:00
- Includes 1 Saturday or Sunday off per month.
Note: Shift hours change in January, but total weekly hours remain the same.

Minimum requirements
π§© What Weβre Looking For
- Retail & Inventory Experience: Hands-on background working in store operations, handling physical inventories, and managing stock control.
- Excel & Office Tools: Solid knowledge about office tools and highly comfortable using Excel to manage data, track inventories, and generate reports.
- Customer Service Excellence: Exceptional communication skills and a passion for delivering welcoming visitor experiences.
- Flexible Support Player: You have a proactive, dynamic attitude. You are happy to run the shop but equally willing to step out and support the team when needed.
- Passionate: An interest in sailing and sustainability will be a strong plus!
β Requirements
- Proficiency in both Spanish and English is required (knowledge of other languages is considered an asset).
- Living in Alicante, Spain, or nearby area.
- Academic background in tourism, education, sports, events, or related fields is highly valued.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and standard office tools.
- Expected to have reasonable flexibility in your role, responsibilities, and schedule according to business requirements.
