

Social Media Coordinator
Description
Our goal is to create a vibrant, consistent, engaging, and authentic digital experience across multiple social media platforms. At the heart of everything we do is a focus on our unique and incredible race, an authentic enthusiasm and knowledge for our sport, and a love of our ocean racetrack.
In the final months before the Race, we continue engaging with our millions of fans worldwide and building towards the start in January 2023. We will then shift into live coverage of the round-the-world race as a premium sporting event and human adventure.
The role of the Social Media Coordinator is to work alongside the Social Media Manager within the larger Communication team to provide creative and editorial support to all digital platforms and channels for the Race, including but not limited to the following areas:
- Develop and execute creative ideas to engage our current audience and grow our follower base;
- Keep our digital platforms vibrant and engaging as manager/editor of each channel, including responding and engaging with followers;
- Provide input from a digital channel perspective into the content distribution strategy for the next Race;
- Distribute and promote our content across digital channels (via campaigns when appropriate): web/app, social channels and relevant partner channels;
- Form key relationships with influencers across the social media platforms and the world class athletes in our Race;
- Establish a smooth working relationship with Teams, their partners and the Race’s stakeholders in ensure an ideal coordination of content and information;
- Help adapt the respective strategies to the ever-moving trends of social media;
- Take an active part in developing the editorial plan for the next Race;
- Be a contributing writer in English when required for our platforms (app, web) in the lead up to the next Race;
- Educate internal staff on the use of social media best practices and promote its use within the company;
- Work with analytics and data to guide our evolving digital strategy on a continual basis;
- Help create monthly social media reports; and
- Any other editorial output as reasonably requested by Communications and Marketing Director/News & Media Director.

The person will need to start as soon as possible, and the role will run until the end of July 2023. This position will be based in Alicante with possible international travel during the Race.
Minimum requirements
- Strong and proven knowledge of digital and social platforms, including best practices for fan engagement, audience growth and marketing;
- Solid and demonstrable experience working within a digital team;
- Understanding of and experience with digital analytics tools and evolving digital trends. Able to generate data-driven reports and insights which will help guide our content creation and key decisions;
- Experience in social campaigns is a plus;
- Familiarity with our social media channels and recent output;
- Ability to write in English at a native speaker level. Other languages, especially French, Italian and/or Spanish, are a bonus;
- Basic video editing skills;
- Hands on attitude, strong team player, passionate, sailing background a plus – love for sport is a must;
- Excellent attention to detail;
- Excellent organisational skills and self-motivated personality with the ability to work to tight deadlines, cope with event pressures, and manage their own time effectively, who can work well within a small and hard-working team;
- EU national or valid EU resident card; and
- Be a team player and comply with the values of The Ocean Race: trust, excellence & care.
